Two Seasons for Year-Round Competition
OPY Swim Club teams give swimmers ages 4-21 a place to improve their strokes, build endurance, and compete in exciting swim meets! All our coaches for OPY Swim Club teams complete coach safety training.
OPY Swim Club competes in two different seasons. The summer season begins with a pre-season period during the month of May, then the regular season begins the first of June and continues through the first weekend of August. The winter season begins in mid-September and goes through mid-March. During both seasons, the team competes at sanctioned meets, giving your child the opportunity to compete against other swimmers both locally and throughout the region.
Qualified swimmers ideally will have completed swim lessons and/or be able to swim 25 yards unassisted. Coaches are available for one-on-one evaluations to determine if a child is ready for swim team.

2024-2025 Winter Swim Season
Our OPY Swim Club is where individuals ages 5-21 can work on strokes, build endurance, and can participate in competitive swim meets. Qualified swimmers ideally will have completed swim lessons and be able to swim 25 yards.
All our coaches are certified with and complete a coach safety training. Meets are sanctioned through Heartland Area Swimming and cost an additional fee. Some meets are local and some are regional meets outside of the Nevada, MO area. Only Y members are eligible to compete.
SEASON: Sept. 17-March 16, Practice will be Tuesdays and Thursdays
REGISTRATION: Done monthly and will cut off at the end of each month
FEES: Members $45/month; Community Members $67.50/month (Sept. and March will be$22.50/month and $33.75/month)
SWIM GROUP TIMES
- 5:30-6:00 pm – Bronze
Kids who are new to swimming - 6:00-7:00 pm – Silver
Kids who are legal on all four strokes - 6:00-7:30 pm – Gold
Higher level swimmers
Coaches can do an initial evaluation to determine the appropriate group for each swimmer.
2025 Summer Swim Season
The Neptunes team is part of the Tri-State Area Swimming Conference and is built as an opportunity for athletes to get their feet wet in the world of competitive swimming. The team is open to both YMCA members and community members.
The Nevada Neptunes is open to swimmers of all levels. Ideally, swimmers should be able to swim 25 yards unassisted.
All our coaches are YMCA Lifeguard certified, which includes certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid. Additionally, they have all gone through child safety training and background checks.
